My life in the northern suburbs
I was born at Panch Hospital in 1966. I have lived in the Northern Suburbs for all my life. My parents lived at Thornbury first for one month. Then my dad bought a house in Reservoir. In those days not all the roads were paved. My mum used to push my pram on the dirt roads near our place. One time my mum’s friend had to help her pull the pram out of the mud when it got struck. My mother worked for 5 years making shoes in a factory at Preston. Later , she stopped work to look after the kids. My mother’s life was very hard but my father also worked hard to help the family pay off the house . My parents have lived for 43 years at Reservoir and they are 44 years married. I went to school at Merrilands Primary School I make lots of friends. One friend came to our house everyday. She was there so often she almost lived with us. My mum had to tell me to tell my friend to go home. I was born first and then my brother Jerry second and my brother John , third. My mother was happy with 3 beautiful kids and all the family were happy. All the roads are paved in Reservoir. Now. Too many cars passed our house, night and day. Once a car went through our front fence and crashed into the front of the house near my bedroom window. My mum told my brother and me not to play at the front gate any more. Our family shops mainly at Reservoir supermarket.
