Migrating by ship
Grace migrated from Italy to Australia, and being on the ship is one of her favourite life memories. She had never been on holidays before so it was very exciting to board the ship, and she will always remember this experience. Upon arriving in Australia it was difficult initially as she could not speak English but promised herself that she would learn quickly which she did.
‘I believe that one of my greatest strengths is being independent. I love to keep active and continue to have many interests. It is wonderful to be around people, I feel very fortunate that I am still able to learn and experience new things’.
Her greatest love is her beautiful garden where she spends many hours tending to her plants and flowers. The garden is Grace’s second life and she will always have flowers in the garden and to see them grow.

This reminiscence comes from an exhibition held to launch the Digital Storytelling Project. The project was conducted by annecto and captured a significant aspect of the participants’ history through a short narrative. The exhibition was launched at annecto’s Northern office in Coburg on July 30th 2009.
