Heidelberg Library Logo

The logo a feature of the exterior of Ivanhoe Library since the 1960s was designed for Yarra Plenty Regional Library’s predecessor – Heidelberg Regional Library: “H for Heidelberg with the apple of knowledge” soon after it was established in 1965.

It features a fan of three leaves with a stem centred in a circle. Either side of the stems is two triangular shapes reminiscent of a horn or loud speaker.

In 1971 the library received a National Public Relations Award through the Australian Library Promotion Council. The award was for the best publication or set of related publications of a public relations nature. The library was commended for its logo.  A Professional design by Mr Neville Lloyd, who worked with the Regional Librarian Peter Stansfield and his close specifications.

Ivanhoe Library was for a time also administration headquarters for the Regional Library Service.

This artwork, together with the letters spelling out Ivanhoe Library and three plaques were removed for safe keeping from the building prior to demolition in June 2020.
