Duncan, William J.P. Greensborough, was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, whence he emigrated to Queensland with his wife and three children in 1866. He remained in Queensland for four and a-half years, and then came to Melbourne, and removed to Greensborough, where he first rented and then purchased land and carried on farming, and there, he now resides, having, in a great measure, given up the active work of his farm. He was appointed justice of the peace for the district in 1877, and retains the position. He was six years a member of the Heidelberg Shire Council, and for a period on the local school board of advice, while he was also connected with the Victorian Agricultural Society.
For eight years he was licensing magistrate… He has also held other positions of trust, some of which he has voluntarily resigned, and others which he still holds. Mr Duncan, who was married in 1850, paid a visit to the old country a few years ago.
His son, Dr. Duncan, of Kyneton, was educated for the medical profession in Glasgow.
