The following was contributed in March 2016:
“If you have driven past “The Hall” at Arthurs Creek recently, you will probably have noticed a large rock and a new flagpole located by the front gate. The Arthurs Creek Mechanics Institute Management Committee has been working to complete a very exciting project. This is our Commemorative Garden and WW1 Honour Roll. The project commenced around this time last year when we decided to participate in the ANZAC 100 years commemorations. We researched names from the War Graves Commission and with the help of a number of additional sources, established an Honour Roll that expanded the original listing found on the Honour Roll held by the Arthurs Creek Methodist Church.
The concept of establishing the Commemorative Garden grew from the spirit of wanting to not only recognise those members of our community who served in “The Great War” but also to establish a space that can be a focal point for all commemorations and celebrations past, present and future.”
The commemorative garden was formally opend on Sunday 17th April, 2016.
