Diamond Valley Library celebrated 40 years on the 7 December 2013. The Library’s official date of opening was 6 December 1973. Open ceremony was performed by the Member for Greensborough R.M. “Monty” Vale M.P. The original building the library was housed in, is now the Shire of Nillumbik Council Offices. A new and separate building was built in 1984. Once the new building was completed the library was relocated to its new premises where it is still located to this date.
The building is located in bush type setting and has views of surrounding areas. A lot of changes surrounding the library have slowly developed over the years, Greensborough Civic Center, Apollo Parkways Primary School, Diamond Valley Special Developmental School NMIT- Greensborough Campus. This campus began to close in 2013 and moved to other NMIT campuses in Melbourne.
