Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness centre

Planned in 1974 to cost $600,000 and built in 1976 in Civic Drive, adjoining the Civic Centre, Greensborough at a cost of one million dollars, the complex provides two courts for basketball, four badminton courts, six squash courts and eight table tennis tables. Soon after, more courts and a mezzanine floor were added.

In 2008 this building was known as the Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness centre and was affiliated with the YMCA.

In 2021 the Centre is operated by Aligned Leisure on behalf of Nillumbik Shire Council.

Major works began in September 2020 at the Centre for a  major renovation. At a cost of $16.5 million it is being constructed by McCorkell Constructions with an expected completion date in 2022.  Works include:

  • Demolition of an existing indoor court
  • Construction of four new indoor netball and basketball compliant courts line marked for volleyball and badminton
  • A new double-story administration and reception building with foyer, offices, kiosk, cafe, change rooms and toilets
  • Refurbished toilets and changerooms
  • Ensuring the building is fully acccessible and compliant.
