Eltham – our special place

We were so young and innocent, Starting life together, We looked at houses day and night, In any sort of weather

We got a call to see a house, Prior sale had fallen through, It needed lots of TLC, It was our dream-come-true

The serenity of Eltham, Was a pleasure to behold, Life in this special township, Was beginning to unfold

Right in the thick of Eltham, The atmosphere inviting, Montsalvat, the market, It was all a touch exciting

Five extensions later and Our house is now a home, We’ve added to our family, With two children of our own

Our little girl’s a teenager, Attends Eltham High School. She loves the eggs at the roundabout, And swims at the Eltham Pool.

Our baby boy is almost six, He loves to play at the park. We feed the ducks and walk the dog And stay there’ till its dark

We often go to the library, A building to admire. There’s not a thing in Nillumbik Of which we’ll ever tire

Our writers and our artists, Our buildings old and new. The culture here’s amazing And it’s worth aspiring to

The groups that band together, When a neighbour needs a hand, Clean Up Day at Eltham Park And making a Green Wedge stand.

We’ve made our home in Eltham, And it’s here that we will we stay. And we’ll be a part of Nillumbik Until our dying day

I know I might seem biased But it’s obvious to me Being here in Eltham is The only place to be.
