GORDON THOMAS HUTCHINSON

HIS FAMILY

Gordon was born on 15th January 1937. Gordon has a big family he has 3 brothers and 5 sisters Joy, Beverley, Pauline, Ruth, Peter, Sheirley, Robert and Rex.In 1959 Gordon got engaged to ann and then in 1960 they got married 3 year later on the 5th of march they had there fist child Jennifer Ann, 5 year after that they had there second child wendy Maree she was born on the 18th of April, then in 1969 they had there first boy Robert Gordon and he was born on the 24th of January, and finely they had there last child Gail Joy she was born on the 19th of July 1970

Swinbourne Technical College 1949-1952

WORK

1953 5 year apprenticeship at Vickers Ruwolt, engineering in Richmond (now Ikea site). Fitting and machining.

Trade schooling

2 years at Swinbourne TC

1 year at RMIT on City campus

Following the apprenticeship Gordon worked building service stations

Maintenance on earth moving equipment  used for building roads

Fire fighting service on a new construction site

Food manufacturing machinery

General Motors Holden maintenance on manufacturing machines

1964 joined education department as a trade teacher continued for next 25 years until retirement

1983 (part time) began voluntary building work with Mobile Mission Maintenance (MMM) continued for 30 years.

POST RETIREMENT

Continued voluntary work with MMM and Wycliffe Associates of Australia. This allowed Gordon to travel to most parts of Australia and some overseas countries.

Commenced a small home maintenance service including bathroom renovations and tiling.

Gordon also specialised in metal fabrication

Gordon’s garage is now his workshop where he creates jewelry boxes, cutting boards, serving platters and various items made from special timbers.

Gordon was younger he liked to play football and cricket. He use too bike ride to work from Greens-borough to Richmond .

A story about bike riding with he’s friend

When Gordon was younger him and his friend went on the bike ride to Echuca past Kilmore. When he’s friends bike chain broke so they had tied rope on the bike to pull it along, when they got to Pyalong they were looking for a place to sleep they saw a house with a shed that they thought they could sleep under so they when to the house to see if the owner would let them sleep there. A man sitting at a table wearing military boot and holding a gun answered. He came to the door and said that they could sleep inside in a cell.
