Went to Westbreen Primary School
Then attended Glenroy Technical School
For most subjects Harry was an average student but was very interested in maths and physics
Harry’s main reading material were technical documents and manuals
Harry was awarded Year 11 school prefect
Houses
Until 1954 lived in a rental house in Ascot Vale then moved to Pascoe Vale
Married in 1974 and moved to Corryong
1983 moved to Wodonga
1997 moved to Briar Hill
Work
First job was a parcel wrapper for the government printing office
Left school at year 11 to start as a tech in training In 1967 working for Department of Civil Aviation which later became Air Services Australia
Was awarded the equivalent to an Associate Diploma in Electronics and Communications
Worked for Air Services Australia for 40 years
Working in Corryong
Harry worked at Corryong from 1973 to 1983
Involved in communications and navigation for aircraft
Corryong station had two people on duty at all times
Corryong looked after a large part of north eastern Victoria
At this time Harry was a Technical Officer Grade 1
Corryong
Harry rented a house in Corryong Victoria for 9 months
Every fortnight he returned to Melbourne to see his girlfriend (Lynne) who he would later marry
Corryong was where he learnt to be independent
Harry’s two daughters Karina and Nat were born in Corryong Hospital
Apex Corryong
Invited to join Apex club
Had to be 18 to 40 years old to join
Later sparked a further interest in volunteering
Spent two years as president Apex
One story of the club was that the club catered for the Corryong Nariel Creek folk festival
Corryong had a public swimming pool and before the pool was cleaned it would filled with trout for people to catch.
Wodonga
Moved to Wodonga in 1984
The reason for moving to Wodonga was to be in the centre of his job coverage area
During this period Harry’s first daughter started primary school and his second daughter started pre school
He joined the Wodonga West Apex, when he was 40 the club gave him a lifetime membership, unfortunately the same year the club folded
Working in
Harry was in charge of Wodonga for the first year he worked out of his back bedroom until the Corryong workshop building was transferred
While at Wodonga his work became more regulated and quality management was introduced
The implementation of new technology created changes in his job
