Marie started playing the piano at the age of six she played at her primary school at St. Kevins as part of her school course. Marie married at the age of 21, she had eight children, seven boys and one girl. For 20 years Marie stopped playing the piano due to transitional housing.
Finally in 1960 she settled down with her family on a small farm. Marie then got a piano from her cousin in Melbourne, Marie played whenever she had the chance.
In 1998 to 2001 she studied and got an arts degree from the Council of Adult Education. Despite being one of the eldest in the class Marie loved and enjoyed the class.
