Nillumbik U3A

The U3A (University of the Third Age) began about 35 years ago in France and since then has become a world-wide organisation. The first U3A in Australia started in Melbourne and the Victorian U3A Network has just celebrated its 20th anniversary.

There are now over 80 U3As throughout Victoria and in November 2008 we launched Nillumbik U3A.

The Third Age refers to the time of active retirement or semi-retirement when the First and Second phases of childhood and then work and parenting, are behind us.

U3As are aimed at keeping older members of a community to remain actively involved in learning and maintaining social contacts within a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

The range of courses and activities is limitless and include discussions, crafts, excursions and many other creative and leisure activities. As all courses and activities are run by volunteers, the cost of involvement is low and for an annual membership fee participants could undertake a variety of activities.

Currently we operate a variety of Courses from our Centre in Graysharps Road, Hurstbridge.

A full list of current offerings, along with enrolment dates, membership details and special events can be found on our website.

Come and Join us! Our local U3A in Nillumbik promises to be a forum for interesting discussions, fun activities and an opportunity to meet other interesting and interested people.
