The old school building, parts of which possibly dating back to 1878 was sadly almost totally destroyed by fire in 2008, but like the proverbial Phoenix from the Ashes has risen again.
Regardless of the survival of bricks and mortar, one thing that cannot be erased except by a final shuffle of the Mortal Coil is the memory of the school that remains with thousands that passed through the Hotham Street gates over the decades.
Others will have their recollections – these are mine, included as a PDF to include my attempts at a graphic layout of the school as I remember it from the early 1950s and a M.M.B.W. map showing the grounds as they appeared in 1928 prior to construction of the northern wing and various other extensions in later years.
